A Scale Unprecedented in the World Movie Vehicles, the Silent Supporting Cast (Theme Hall)

Under the 32nd Motor Show's theme of "One world. One people. One show."
the Japan Motor Industrial Federation Inc., (JMIF) will sponsor "Great Cars in Memorable Movies."

17 four wheeled vehicles and two motorcycles lent by museums and others in Japan will be displayed along with 17 unforgettable movies in which they appeared. Never before has there been such a large-scale exhibition relating such movies and vehicles. This area focuses on movies and vehicles as symbols of the 20th century. The vehicles served as silent supporting cast members, sometimes as partners in life, sometimes as symbols of hope. TechnoGallery Reducing fuel consumption and protecting the environment

Hybrid vehicles have been attracting much attention as an element in one of the eternal quests for vehicles, the reduction of fuel consumption. Several display panels show the history of this quest in the TechnoGallery on the second floor of the newly built North Hall under the theme, "Keys to Car Knowledge: The Quest for Enhanced Fuel Performance."The area is divided into five zones, including four devoted to the major methods for reducing fuel consumption: engine innovation, transmission innovation, weight reduction and aerodynamic/rolling resistance reduction. Improvements in each field are demonstrated using actual products. While reducing fuel consumption through technological innovation is an important part of protecting the environment and reducing CO2, considered a major factor in global warming, the TechnoGallery also shows that attention to driving practices can have a marked effect on fuel consumption. The TechnoGallery only deals with domestic technologies which were in the open market as of the end of 1996.
